Mama. Hubs Kisser. Lipstick Lover. Storyteller.
Foodie. Fitness Seeker. Life Learner. Dreamer.
Hi there! It’s me Melissa but you can call me MJ since we are already friends. I’m a thirty-something who loves being Mama to Zoë & Baby E. In November 2012, after many years of hoping and praying, I became a FAB Haute Mama. Zoë aka Sugar Plum Z or Little Z is my little piece of heaven. She loves to sing, dance and peek through the blinds at the birds and the neighbors passing by.
Fast forward to May of 2015 and once again I was blessed to be called mom. Baby E started out as a surprise and continues to surprise us every day. He is fun, funny, super active and a great baby brother. You can find him hanging out with me or tagging along to his big sister’s activities and playdates. He is currently interviewing for his own playdate crew. LOL
I’m also honored to be (step) mama to Zaya our beautiful 8-year-old. So much has changed in my life since mamahood. I share my experiences (good, bad and otherwise) products and places we love and more. Cheers to the kids. They’re the ones with the social life. When we are not out and about you can find us reading and acting out books, playing dress-up, having tea time or enjoying a movie. Princess movies are always at the top of our selection.
One handsome man calls me wife. He’s known as the Hubs around here. He’s a pretty low-key kind of guy. Social media and sharing is not really his thing, but I will sneak in a picture or two on occasion. Regardless of the mystery, I’m a certified HUBS KISSER and he loves it. Shhhhh, don’t tell him I told you that.
Some everyday things I LOVE are coffee, tea and lipstick. I ❤️ COFFEE, TEA and LIPSTICK! I really love Coffee, Tea, and Lipstick! These days I mostly wear gloss but lipstick is my true love. I’m known to wear lipstick during a run or just to the grocery store. It’s that serious. I adore shoes, pretty dresses, full skirts and fancy things for my girls and me.

Beyond coffee & tea, I love food. I’m a FOODIE and I am here for all of it! Not long ago, I started culinary school and then I quit. I’ll sum up the long story with this: I was working at a place that sucked all the life out of me and I let it. I let it take away a lifelong dream because I didn’t know how to say no. Since telling them NO, I am slowly but surely getting back into my groove.
STORYTELLER! I love to tell stories. I’m even a published author (poet.) As a child, I dreamed of being a writer, a chef ,and an art director. I love beautiful words, beautiful food, people and beautiful works of art. Every day is an opportunity to tell a new story. Remember that!
So how is a FOODIE also a FITNESS SEEKER? I want to be transparent about my ups and downs in fitness and with food. Speaking of food, here is my foodie truth: A part of the reason I work out is so I can eat, eat, And EAT! Yup. But that doesn’t mean I’m willing to cancel out all those calories burned for a cake… Yes, I have eaten a whole cake in one sitting! It was just that good. No judgment. So I am on a continuous quest to get and stay fit and I try to do/eat the right thing at least 80% of the time. I love the 80/20 rule. Works so well in so many situations including food & fitness. I’m a chef after all. Now where’s the bacon? Ha!
I believe in dreams and I am learning how to DO the things that will make my dreams come true. No more sitting on the sidelines of life.
